NOTE: This Thanksgiving break has been everything I could have asked for. I didn't realize how much I needed to be recharged (spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, etc) before finishing the semester. So to all who made this break poppin – thank you.
Happy post-Thanksgiving guys. A time where we slowly forget all the things we are, or should be grateful for until Christmas time (or even next Thanksgiving).
To make a long story short – here’s a list of the things I grew to be more thankful for this break:
Jesus: It blows my mind that Jesus Christ never turns his back on us. He never forgets about us. He never
leaves us. He never stops loving us. He never gets tired of us. And I could go on, but really the point is every bold thing that humans do to each other (and to Him) – HE NEVER DOES TO US. And for that I gotta do a lil praise dance.
Family: This break was WELL NEEDED because no offense to my school or nothin – but I was tired of the routine. I had not been home since the middle of October, so I was geeked to be with my family acting a straight fool for more than two days. (Plus, Giant UNO is 10x better, and more dramatic than regular UNO.)
Food +Shelter: I often take these two for granted. The day after Thanksgiving I had to opportunity to go riding around downtown Detroit and hand out meals to the homeless. It was really fulfilling seeing the joy and gratitude on their faces – and it put a lot of things into perspective for me as well.
Health: I don’t think about this one much either. But the simple fact that I can get up without any aches, pains, or problems is amazing. I can see, smell, hear, feel, and think with a clear mind – and that within itself is a blessing.
All the things I don’t think about: I can’t even list them because I don’t think about them – but I’m extremely grateful because I don't have to think about them – if that makes sense.
Okay a little cliché, right? But, my heart is humbled and full. So, my challenge to you all to list the things you’re thankful for, and not let them fade away until next Thanksgiving. Deal?
Peace +GLOW Always,
"Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who
belong to Christ Jesus."
